  • Born in 1971. Graduated from Kwansei Gakuin University majored in Business and Commerce. While in university, Koto Nagata participated and devoted her passion in study and cheerleading.
    Taking advantage of experiences in dance lessons in New York, she worked on directing and planning stages and choreography for her team. And naturally, she started to have an interest in filmmaking for her career.
    And she joined WILCO corporation soon after she graduated from school in 1995.
    As she began her career, soon she started to develop her gift. She worked on many productions of films, TV dramas, P.V, and CF being an assistant director.
    Many of them involved with leading directors and producers such as Shunji Iwai, Kenki Saegusa, and Christopher Doyle.
    In the meantime, she worked as a director for the first time under a head director of Ten Shimoyama which was a TV- drama series (TV Tokyo) called “Jelly in the Merry-go-round”, a mega hit comics by Moyoco Anno.
    In 2000, she worked and produced as an assistant director to Shunji Iwai on “All About Lily Chou-Chou”, a 3rd featured film of Shunji Iwai.
    In 2001, she began to work as a freelance director planning and producing variety of films, CF and TV dramas.
    In 2004, she made her first successful theater debut with “A perfect day for sending a love letter” (omnibus movie) as a director.
    In 2007, “Shibuya-Maruyama Story” and “Little DJ” were released. “Little DJ” became a special screening film at the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival. Also a short film called “WOMAN” was released at “Cinematic Ginza”, a special exhibition hosted by Shiseido at the House of Shiseido.
    In 2009, she worked as a leading director in “Mousou Shimai” , a TV drama series of Nippon Television Network.
